We serve California through premier educational, research, clinical and public service programs to advance the health of animals and people, and the environment we share. We also safeguard the health of livestock, dairy and poultry—critical to California's robust agricultural economy.
Our One Health approach encompasses captive and free-ranging wildlife, companion animals, exotic animals, birds, aquatic mammals, and fish. Our researchers are at the forefront of discoveries that translate to improved care for humans as well as animals.

The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is home to approximately 720 of the world's brightest doctors of veterinary medicine (DVM) students, Ph.D. and M.S. students, and public health and epidemiology (Master in Preventive Veterinary Medicine / MPVM) students. Our professional and graduate students are dedicated to becoming the next generation of veterinarians, researchers, and industry professionals.

Access to Care
UC Davis Veterinary Medicine aims to provide world-class veterinary care to dogs and cats of clients with limited resources or other barriers to care. For many years, our faculty, staff, and students have addressed the needs of underserved communities, shelters, and rescue groups through community-based initiatives to provide animal care.

Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response
UC Davis provides veterinary disaster preparedness, response and care directly through its International Animal Welfare Training Initiative (IAWTI), oversight of the statewide California Veterinary Emergency Team (CVET), Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN), and Wildlife Disaster Network (WDN) programs.
