UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine Ranked No. 1 Nationally for 10th Consecutive Year

The UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine has once again secured the top spot in the nation in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings of professional and graduate programs, marking its 10th consecutive year as No. 1.

The rankings, based on peer assessment surveys from academic leaders across the country, reflect the school’s sustained excellence in education, research, clinical care, and global impact since first earning the top ranking in 2016.

This continued recognition aligns with the school’s standing in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, released in March. In that ranking, UC Davis was named No. 1 nationally and No. 2 globally in veterinary science.

UC Davis is expanding clinical and educational capacity through new and enhanced facilities both on the UC Davis campus and in Southern California, including the development of the UC Davis Hobbs Veterinary Center. On the Davis campus, the school is moving forward with a new veterinary education pavilion, small animal hospital, primary care hospital and other facilities. These efforts will support increased enrollment of veterinary students and residents, strengthen research infrastructure, and enable the school to meet rising demand for veterinary care across California and beyond.

Dean Mark Stetter emphasized that the school’s continued top ranking reflects both its legacy of excellence and its forward-looking vision.

“This recognition reflects the extraordinary dedication of all the people affiliated with the school, who advance veterinary medicine in ways that improve animal, human, and environmental health,” said Stetter. “As we enter this next chapter—with new facilities, expanded training programs, and a deeper commitment to community care—we are not only sustaining excellence, but redefining what’s possible for veterinary medicine.”
