Dr. Ashley Hill Named Associate Dean for Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Operations and Director of the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory at UC Davis
Dr. Ashley Hill, DVM, MPVM, PhD, has been appointed as the Associate Dean for Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Operations and Director of the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory (CAHFS) at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM).
With this position, Dr. Hill becomes a member of the SVM’s senior leadership team, reports directly to the Dean, and ensures that CAHFS meets its mission to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic services for the State of California on behalf of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The position is the chief administrator for the diagnostic enterprise and is responsible for the professional, academic, and ethical affairs of CAHFS, as well as its financial health and operational efficiency.
Dr. Hill is a dedicated veterinary epidemiologist and lead for the CAHFS immunology/serology section. She previously served as chair of the SVM’s Preventive Veterinary Medicine Graduate Program and is an active and engaged graduate advisor and thesis mentor who also has a large classroom teaching effort in the DVM and MPVM curriculum. Dr, Hill previously served as CAHFS’ acting co-director in 2016, associate director in 2018, and assumed the co-director title in 2019. This unique background has given her the financial, personnel, planning, and administrative management experience essential to lead CAHFS.
The appointment was effective October 4, 2021, for a five-year term.
