What Makes Our Hospital Special?

Our team of board-certified, internationally-recognized faculty and staff lead world’s largest veterinary hospital advanced training program. House officers practice under the faculty’s tutelage to receive advanced training in one of approximately 40 programs offered at UC Davis.

With expert technicians, professional staff members, and senior students working collaboratively to provide attentive and personalized care for every patient, the VMTH is not only ranked as the #1 veterinary school in the nation, but is also recognized as global leader in innovative care delivered with the highest level of compassion.

 

Our Facilities

The current hospital opened in 1970 and has had two major additions, the latest completed in 2004. Since 2017, 15 facility additions and renovations have been made to the hospital, including several updated specialty service suites, as well as the opening of the Advanced Veterinary Surgery Center, the Meadowview Foundation Dentistry and Oral Surgery Center, the Equine Lameness Pavilion, and an expanded small animal Emergency Room/Intensive Care Unit.

The hospital treats more than 50,000 animals a year.

Additionally, there are more than 20,000 submissions made to the hospital’s laboratory, pharmacy, farrier, and other ancillary services. View the current prospectus.

 

 

The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at UC Davis is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association — the only organization to accredit companion veterinary hospitals. Less than 15% of animal hospitals in North America achieve AAHA accreditation.
