STAR Poster Information

ALL STAR STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO DO A POSTER

Below is information about posters which some of you will be displaying at the BI-AAVMC Veterinary Scholars Symposium and all of you will be displaying at the STARs in Science Poster Session scheduled at the end of the summer.  Upon final completion of your poster, please send a .PDF format of your poster to svmstarprogram@ucdavis.edu for uploading onto the video screens in Valley Hall.

ALL students should use the PowerPoint or BioRender templates below for their posters. The templates should be used with a plain white background, in either portrait or landscape orientation.

Poster Template - Square (.ppt)

Poster Template - Landscape (.ppt)

Poster Template (BioRender)

Starting in 2024 - We have also designed a poster template in BioRender that can be used to create your poster (requires login). The template can be adjusted to either portrait or landscape orientations, and the boxes for images/text are adjustable. When using the BioRender template, please be sure to make a copy of the template - DO NOT EDIT THE TEMPLATE.  Be sure to include a citation stating "this poster was created using BioRender".

Dimensions/Formatting:  Posters should be no larger than 3ft wide x 4ft tall, or 4ft wide x 3 ft tall*. To keep actual printing simple and expedient, posters should have a white background, with no background pictures or gradient color schemes or complex graphics behind the data.

*If you are attending the 2024 Veterinary Scholars Symposium, the maximum dimensions for posters are 45" x 45". Your VSS poster can also be used for the STARs in Science Poster Session; you do not need to create a new one.

The recommended colors for borders are either dark navy blue or dark gold.  The official University colors for print are:

Pantone 110 C - Gold
Aggie Blue: CMYK: 100/56/0/34

PRINTING YOUR POSTER:

The STAR Program will cover the cost of printing your poster (up to $100). The options for printing are below.

The Health Sciences District Advanced Imaging Facility in 1218 VM3B can print your poster (on paper only) and has cardboard tubes available for purchase. Arrangements should be made 1-2 weeks in advance of printing date with Dr. Brust-Mascher.  Please contact Ingrid Brust-Mascher at ibrustmascher@ucdavis.edu or 530-752-8854 to make printing arrangements, and be sure to let her know that you are a STAR student.

UCD ReproGraphics has a 3-5 business day turnaround time, but may be able to print with a shorter lead time, dependent on current volume of orders. Please refer to the ReproGraphics website for instructions and formatting requirements. ReproGraphics is able to print on both paper and fabric for roughly the same cost (poster cost is comparable to the Imaging District facility). If you are using ReproGraphics for your poster, please contact the STAR Program administrator for the account number to use.

*Please note - due to Campus contracting requirements, we can no longer reimburse for printing services at FedEx. While they are a good option for last minute printing needs, the expense is not covered by STAR Program funds.
